Screens To Be Educational

The American Pediatric Association is one of the main voices against the use of screens in children under 18 months. For children between 2 and 5 years old, recommend a careful use of one hour of quality per day.  Did you know that children can also be taught about business from an early age? for more information visit the page below mikemussinafoundation.

In these times it is difficult to turn off the screens completely, so this Association recommends that instead of removing the screens be used as part of the development of children. However, we must bear in mind that some applications are more appropriate than others and that no multimedia content can be compared with human interaction and physical activities.

To demonstrate this and to measure the impact on learning acquisition, researchers from the University of Washington conducted a study with 7-month-old children. A group of babies interacted with a person who spoke Mandarin Chinese while two other groups only watched a DVD or listened to audios in that language. The results showed that the group that had the tutor could distinguish the sounds in Mandarin from English and yet the other groups were not able to recognize the language. This study reinforces the idea that at this age children need to experience and that human interaction is vital for their education and development.

Although adults do not have any problem in making the change between the two and three dimensions, children under 18 months still can not distinguish them, so they have adjustment problems between reality and a screen.

It should also be noted that the type of general motor skills is learned before the precise ones. Manipulating objects is what causes more brain stimulation. In this way they learn to understand themselves in space and to interact with materials. Television and apps are sedentary activities that do not allow infants to use their bodies to explore.

Either way, you can use screens with interactive applications that allow the child to understand the instructions easily. Regarding educational activities, slow programs work better, since children need more time and opportunities to learn.

The parents of such small children should also favor multisensory experiences, that is; applications that offer several stimuli, such as looking, listening and playing. How could it be to take a picture of something real and do something with it.
